In the heart of the enchanting rolling fields, lived a boy named Shepherd. His existence was pure, simple, and honest. His primary duty was mainly to care for his herd of ewes.
Their soft bleating and the rustling of the breezes through the single tree on the peak were his main companions. Day in day, watching over his wards inculcated in him a notion of quiet fulfillment.
However, there were occasional moments of isolation, when the shepherd boy would long for fellowship. On one such day because of sheer monotony, the shepherd boy conceived a naughty plot.

One morning he dashed into the village screaming “Wolf! There is a wolf that has taken my sheep!” The frightened villagers sprinted up the hills to help but saw nothing threatening.
The boy giggled at the dilemma on their faces. This prank continued for a couple of more days. However, one day, a real wolf did come to prey the herd. The shepherd boy raced for help, screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.
Frustrated and alone, the boy struggled against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the village only to be met with a lesson on honesty and the repercussions of false alarms.
